Hubs and Adapters
USB-C Hubs and Adapters: turn one port into many
USB-C hubs and multiport adapters solve the main limitation of modern laptops: too few, too specific ports. With a single accessory you go from one USB-C to HDMI 4K, multiple USB-A 3.0, Ethernet, SD card reader and pass-through fast charging — all at once.
What ports can you add?
- HDMI 4K @ 60Hz — connect an external monitor or TV at full quality.
- USB-A 3.0 — for classic devices: flash drives, mouse, keyboard, external HDDs.
- USB-C Power Delivery — charge the laptop while using the hub (passthrough).
- Ethernet RJ45 — wired internet when Wi-Fi fails.
- microSD/SD reader — for camera cards, drones, Nintendo Switch.
Which hub for which laptop?
- MacBook Air / Pro M1-M4: USB-C hub with HDMI 4K and at least 60W PD passthrough.
- Dell XPS, ThinkPad X1, HP Spectre: 7-in-1 hub with HDMI + Ethernet + 85-100W PD.
- iPad Pro / Air USB-C: compact hub with HDMI, USB-A, SD reader.
- Nintendo Switch: hub that supports HDMI 4K to use the console on TV without the official dock.
Power Delivery passthrough explained
When you connect your USB-C charger to the hub (not directly to the laptop), the hub passes power through to the laptop while you keep all other ports free. Look for at least 60W PD for ultrabooks and 85-100W for power-hungry laptops.
HDMI 4K — watch the refresh rate
Cheap hubs often deliver only 4K at 30Hz, fine for video but not for productive work (the mouse looks laggy). For professional use, choose 4K @ 60Hz.
